4 Tips to Boost Your Google Ranking!
Every website owner aims for a high Google ranking and improved visibility on the web. However, getting a good ranking in Google hasn’t been the easiest thing for many as Google’s search engine uses a variety of methods to determine which pages are displayed first in the results. So now it takes more than just launching a website to top your competitors.
So, if you want to boost sales and conversions by taking your website to the first page of Google, here are four tips you may follow.
1. Optimize for Mobile
Recently, Google has confirmed a new ranking algorithm targeting mobile search called “Speed Update” which indicates that owners should improve their websites in order to rank well on Google and will downrank very slow websites with a small percentage of queries under certain conditions.
Having that said, it’s hardly surprising that websites with a mobile-friendly interface will rank higher in Google searches. If your site isn’t mobile, now is the right time to optimize it.
2. Increase your Speed
Your site speed is important to user experience. And so to Google. Google has indicated site speed (and as a result, page speed) is one of the signals used by its algorithm to rank pages. Google also recommends keeping your site speed below 2-3 seconds.
For both mobile or desktop, you must focus on continuously monitoring the speed and keep improving it to provide a friendly experience to your visitors.
Use the Google Page Speed tool to benchmark performance.
3. Optimize for Long-Tail Keywords
Long-tail keywords are longer (three or more words) and more specific keyword phrases that visitors are more likely to search when they’re closer to a point-of-purchase. Long-tail keywords account for 70% of all web searches. So the longer and more specific the keywords, the higher the chances of conversion rates. And in this case, it is much easier for your site to rank for long-tail keywords than for more common keywords.
You can use Google’s Keyword Planner to start plugging in keywords that are relevant to your site to see what the competition for each of those keywords looks like. This will help you eliminate the ones you shouldn’t be optimizing for and select the ones that can work best to drive traffic to your site.
4. Create A Link Building Strategy
Link building is the process of acquiring hyperlinks from other websites to your own.
If you want more search engine traffic, link building is a must. Links are one of the biggest factors Google looks at.
The rule is: More quality backlinks = Rank higher
Your number of links is the only way Google can see how valuable your site is to other people. And the truth of the matter is, even if you have lots and lots of valuable content, if people don’t link to you, the search engines won’t acknowledge your site as valuable.
